The team at Clarity has been busy this year! We hosted our first ever HR Breakfast roundtable where we discussed hot HR topics. We started our exciting partnership with Futures & Options to further career development in NYC. And back in November we helped build a house with Habitat for Humanity of Nassau County for our first ever Day of Service…to name a few.
While it’s a bit delayed we wanted to raise awareness about our experience with Habitat for Humanity because it was such a fun, team building, day for the Clarity crew, we recommend you do it too!
We lucked out with amazing weather in November, hello sunbathing on the roof as we helped build a house! We built an awesome, sustainable house, for a family of three in Roosevelt, out on Long Island. You can check out the innovative design of this “Habitat Haus” here; it includes sustainable features like solar panels and a rainwater/collection system!
In case you’re not familiar, Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit that aims to alleviate homelessness by giving hardworking, low-income people a “hand up, not a hand out.” Individuals and families can apply to buy a house from Habitat with a 0% interest mortgage and a number of required sweat equity hours. The houses are built almost completely by volunteers who donate their time and money at a variety of levels. And let us tell you, these volunteers we worked with were so caring and fun to work with!
Imagine, a team of Manhattan recruiters siding, insulating, and using power tools to chop wood – sounds scary, but we did and all thanks to our awesome fearless leaders, Tom and Ray! It didn’t hurt that we got to enjoy some sun while working on the roof. We worked hard, and were extremely excited when we were fed an amazingly delicious and generous lunch donated by TRI Business and Career Center, a vocational school in Westbury, New York.
As you can see from the pictures, we had a blast working with the Habitat crew. It felt great to work as a team to give back in a tangible way. If you or your company are interested in learning more about how you can get involved please contact the wonderful people out Habitat for Humanity of Nassau County.
The Clarity team is excited for Day of Service 2017 and many more events to come! 🙂
