October is Women’s Small Business Month

3 Simple Ways to Support Women’s Small Businesses this Month

Happy Women’s Small Business Month!

13 million That’s the number of women-owned businesses in the United States that are contributing billions to the economy and creating millions of jobs.  Despite this impact, women-owned businesses often face barriers that can hold them back, such as limited access to funding, mentorship, and growth opportunities. That’s where we can make a difference! Below are three simple and meaningful ways you can show your support for women-owned businesses this October and beyond.

Why now? This month-long celebration began in 2010, when the U.S. Small Business Administration and women’s business organizations saw a need to shine a spotlight on women-owned small businesses and the unique challenges they face. Since then, it has become a national effort to not only honor the achievements of women entrepreneurs but also to support them in ways that help them grow ー and we’re here for it!

Did you Know… Clarity is a female founded and woman-owned business. We know how important a positive review or referral to a friend or peer can go. In fact, a large part of our client and candidate base comes to us exclusively through these referrals, and we hope to inspire you to share the love you have for small women-owned businesses that are important to you.

Here are a few easy ways to start supporting:

          1.Use Them!

The easiest way to show your support is to be intentional about where you spend your money. Look for women-owned shops, boutiques, restaurants, online stores and business services. You can find them by searching directories like WBENC (https://www.wbenc.org/directory/ ー yes, you’ll  find Clarity here!) or keeping an eye out for the Women-Owned logo on products. Even something small, like choosing a woman-owned coffee brand or beauty product, makes an impact.

2. Provide Mentorship and Share Expertise

If you have experience in business, marketing, finance, or any professional skill, offering your time and knowledge can be invaluable. Many women-owned businesses lack access to mentorship and guidance that can help them navigate growth and challenges. Join mentoring networks like SCORE or NAWBO, or reach out directly to women business owners in your community to see how you can help.

Providing mentorship is a powerful way to pay it forward and support long-term success for women entrepreneurs, without even opening your wallet.

3. Spread the Word on Social Media or Write a Review

Not everyone can buy something every time, and that’s okay. You can still show your support by giving women-owned businesses a shout-out. Share their products on social, write a review (we love google reviews!), tag them in a post, and use hashtags like #WomensSmallBusinessMonth. A quick post can help introduce these businesses to a whole new audience. Even if you have a small following, every little bit helps — you might inspire someone else to check them out. After all, it wasn’t too long ago that companies like Clarity were just an idea in a motivated woman’s head!

Whether it’s shopping small, sharing on social, investing time or mentoring, every little action helps women-owned businesses thrive. Women’s Small Business Month is the perfect excuse to get started, but your support doesn’t have to stop there. Let’s show these incredible women-owned businesses that we see them, we value them, and we’re cheering them on. If you’ve had a great experience with Clarity and want to support us this month, leave us a google review or shout it out on Linkedin! We’ll be here to pay it forward.
