Product Development Manager
Our client, a fashion accessories company, is seeking a Product Development Manager to oversee sourcing and product development activities for a mass market jewelry account. This role serves as a key liaison between internal teams and overseas manufacturing partners, ensuring products are developed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with design and brand standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and experienced in managing the full product development lifecycle within the fashion jewelry industry.
Key Responsibilities

Source materials and components through overseas vendor partners to support new product development

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring jewelry collections to market efficiently and competitively

Negotiate product costs with vendors to meet margin targets while maintaining design integrity

Recommend alternative manufacturing techniques or materials to improve manufacturability and cost efficiency

Manage development timelines and oversee the progress of product samples, packaging, and key milestones

Track product development calendars and proactively resolve issues impacting delivery timelines

Review and approve initial, pre-production, and production samples to ensure aesthetic and quality standards are met

Maintain awareness of market trends and customer expectations to inform development decisions

Build and maintain detailed product development tracking tools and reporting grids

Prepare and distribute regular updates on project status and sample deliveries
Qualifications

3–5 years of product development experience within the fashion jewelry industry

Strong understanding of jewelry manufacturing and the product development lifecycle

Experience working with overseas factories and vendor partners

Ability to prioritize tasks effectively while balancing team and company objectives

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Creative problem-solving skills and ability to navigate challenges in a fast-paced environment

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Ability to work independently and follow through on expectations with minimal direction
