Application Support Engineer
Our client is looking for an experienced Application Support Engineer to join their growing team. In this role, you will own the reliability and usability of complex trading and investment platforms across both front-office and operations functions, with a sharp focus on proactive monitoring, incident resolution, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert-level support across proprietary and third-party trading and investment applications, partnering with developers, infrastructure engineers, and SRE teams to triage, resolve, and prevent issues while maintaining clear communication with end users throughout the process.
- Lead and participate in incident management workflows — including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews — with measurable focus on reducing MTTD and MTTR, and develop and maintain runbooks to standardize resolution of recurring issues.
- Build and manage automated monitoring solutions to proactively surface application issues, drive operational efficiency through scripting, and support integration/UAT testing and production readiness reviews ahead of new releases.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in application support within a financial services environment, with hands-on knowledge of electronic trading systems, order routing, execution workflows, and post-trade processes.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python preferred) and familiarity with CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub, TeamCity); working knowledge of SRE principles including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Strong command of financial industry terminology and instrument identifiers, with the communication skills to translate technical issues clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
