Bookkeeper
Our client, a Women-owned downtown Manhattan law firm seeking a full-time bookkeeper. Law or accounting firm or finance company experience and knowledge of Juris and QuickBooks preferred. Flexible, collegial, and supportive work environment and option for hybrid work with split time in the office. Looking for someone who is proactive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, team player willing to assist in managing the logistical and administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day operation of the firm.
Responsibilities will include:
• Manage bills and invoices, pay vendors on time, and enter financial transactions into accounting software
• Bill clients, track invoices, send reminders for overdue payments, and record payments received
• Reconcile company bank accounts with internal financial records, including IOLTA account
• Reconcile credit card statements with recorded expenses
• Process payroll and attorney compensation
• Ensure accurate records are kept for tax reporting and compliance and assist outside accountants with payroll tax filings and year-end tax preparation
• Financial reporting including tracking and reporting revenues, expenses, and profits for creation of P&L statements and preparing weekly cash flow reports
• Track quarterly attorney time billed and client billing reports
• Create new budget based on prior year’s budget
• Deposit checks
• Handle various benefits issues, including coordinating with partners and health insurance broker on benefit selections
• Provide 401(K) administrator with Employee Census for Year End Data Collection
• Participate in weekly meeting with firm finance partner
Qualifications
- Must have 5+ years of bookkeeping and accounting experience, law firm experience preferred.
- Experience using Juris is a plus.
- Experience using QuickBooks.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and other electronic databases.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Able to develop and maintain both professional and congenial relationships with attorneys, staff, business associates and clients.
- Possess exceptional organizational skills and be able to work both independently and collaboratively on a team in a friendly and team-oriented manner.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work schedule
- Base salary: 65-75k based on experience
- Offering two weeks paid vacation plus holidays, health, and dental benefits with employee contribution.
- Participation in 401K available after one year with 3% employer safe harbor contribution.
