Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Proofing/cite and fact checking documents drafted by attorneys, including complaints, legal briefsand other court submissions, discovery requests and responses, and mediation submissions;
- Conducting online research on a multitude of issues such as corporate background searches and monitoring of related litigation using PACER, Bloomberg, Edgar, and Westlaw;
- Deposition preparation, including organizing potential deposition exhibits and coordinating logistics of deposition scheduling;
- Indexing and organizing discovery related documents;
- Conducting other litigation-related tasks based on needs of the cases to which the paralegal is assigned; and
- Assisting other paralegals at firm on an as-needed basis.
Skills/Requirements of Position:
- 5+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal at a law firm or in-house;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Filesite;
- Prior experience managing document productions, including proficiency with Relativity,
- Concordance and other similar database tools;
- Knowledge of rules and procedures for electronic filing of documents in federal and state courts, including proficiency with the Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system;
- Familiarity with court rules and procedures;
- Ability to manage busy workload consisting of multiple tasks and cases;
- Must possess:
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and attention to detail;
- Strong technical skills and interest in learning new litigation support systems;
- Strong organizational and time-management skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently while understanding the importance of teamwork.
- The work shift for this position is 10am-6pm five days per week. But applicant must be willing and available to work overtime, both evening and weekends when necessary.
