Labor Relations Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our Human Resources team on a temporary assignment. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership, managing complex employee relations matters while promoting a respectful, inclusive, and compliant workplace. The ideal candidate has strong investigative skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary resource for employee relations matters, including workplace concerns, performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
- Conduct thorough workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, and other sensitive matters while maintaining confidentiality
- Advise managers on employee relations best practices, performance management, corrective actions, and policy interpretation
- Ensure compliance with federal, New York State, and New York City employment laws and organizational policies while helping mitigate workplace risk
- Develop and deliver manager training on employee relations topics, workplace investigations, performance management, and employment law compliance
- Maintain accurate employee relations documentation, support HR compliance initiatives, and assist with special projects as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive employee relations experience, preferably within a complex or highly regulated organization
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and managing sensitive employee relations issues
- Strong knowledge of federal, New York State, and New York City employment laws
- Experience coaching managers on performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred
- Healthcare, nonprofit, or unionized environment experience is a plus
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $30 per hour
- Temporary assignment
- Full-time
- Fully on-site, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
- Bronx, NY
