Human Resources Director
The Human Resource Director will report to a Partner in the NY office. This role will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and manage the staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department (1- Recruiter / 1 –Payroll & Benefits Manager).
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Expectations & Responsibilities of the role:
- Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
- Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; employee relations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Researches and identifies experts for and additional training & development opportunities.
- Builds internal and external relationships to maintain an active pipeline of senior talents.
- Oversee the company’s DEI strategy and execution.
- Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Crafts and leads all employee communications regarding people-related initiatives, programs, and updates.
- Manages company’s internship program (summer & fall).
- Develops and implements departmental budget.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required
- 8+ years experience in human resources department; 2+ years experience in an HR leadership position
- Previous experience with Namely or other HRIS required
- Strong understanding of the interviewing process, benefits administration, payroll and other HR functions
- PHR certification preferred
- Previous Media/Communications Agency experience preferred
