Assistant Controller
Role Description
Investment Management firm is seeking to hire an experienced Assistant Controller with a minimum of 5 years of experience. This individual will have the opportunity to work side by side with a hands-on CFO and manage a small team of collaborative professionals. Responsibilities will include:
- Identifying risks and maintaining proper controls over accounting and operational procedures and transactions
- Reviewing of (and back-up responsibility) of daily margin, liquidity, leverage and cash reporting to CFO/COO and Portfolio Managers
- Maintaining proper process documentation
- Managing regulatory filings/submissions
- Actively managing and leading audit and tax processes at year-end
- Managing 1-2 accounting professionals and a tight month-end close process
- Reviewing monthly and quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations process for revenue, AR, deferred revenue, inventory, AP and other areas as assigned
- Providing support for the annual financial statement audit, as well as periodic internal audits
- Handling special projects, special requests and other financial related matters
- Participating in group projects and contributing to improve process effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to work across all levels both as a process leader and coach to others
- Ability to multi-task with good time management skills to meet multiple reporting deadlines
- Proficient with Quickbooks, Sage or other accounting software platforms
- Exceptional analytical skills and strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookUps, etc.)
Additional skills/experience that will reflect favorably
- CPA License (or ability to obtain within time period) would be valued
- Previous financial services/trading firm experience
- Experience with broker bills
