Payroll/Tax Consultant
Our client, a tech product in the wealth and asset management space, is looking for a Sr. Payroll Tax Specialist to support the management of payroll processing and administration, ensuring that processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner.
This role is open due to a company merger and will assist in the process of moving the firm from a 3rd party payroll provider into a joint payroll structure within UltiPro/UKG. This person will be helping to align this transformation from a payroll perspective and must be a subject matter expert in all aspects of payroll tax. A critical deliverable of this role is to prepare, manage, audit, and reconcile all things related to payroll tax including monthly and quarterly filings state and local registrations. They require a candidate who can immediately review Q1 filings, prepare for Q2, reconcile and work with the various state agencies regarding tax notices, registrations, assessments, etc. Additionally, this person will oversee current payroll, which is run through a managed payroll provider (PayTech).
UltiPro/UKG payroll experience is a must. Vendor management is also key.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Manage all payroll functions including time and attendance to ensure complete and accurate processing of biweekly, semimonthly multi-state payrolls, and monthly UK payroll via UltiPro Software
- Oversee accuracy of overtime and paid time off reported by employees
- Maintain a process to ensure the integrity and accuracy of payroll data by conducting reconciliations and detailed audits to ensure accurate processing
- Set up and maintain all federal, state, and local garnishments
- Collaborate with 3rd party provider to set up new states in payroll system
- Manage regular preparation of relevant payroll reports for Senior Management, Human Resources and Finance departments as well as governmental agencies on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or year-end basis as applicable
- Generate various payroll reports for accounting & analysis purposes
- Review and spot check to ascertain that payroll distributions are accurate and promptly handled
- Audit insurance deductions to ensure elections are accurate prior to payroll deductions
- Responsible for all system year-end tasks including the reset of 401K, FSA, HSA limits per yearly IRS guidelines
- Provide support for annual financial statement and 401k audits
- Ensure that W-2s are issued timely by third-party provider
- Act as a subject matter expert for payroll and employment tax inquiries
