Benefits Leader
Our Client, an industrial aluminum company, located in Buckhead is looking for a Benefits Leader to manage the operations and compliance of their US and Canadian Employee Benefits Program.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support the daily operations of the Benefits team
- Build or update plan documentations to meet the legal requirements for employee benefits administration
- Assist with the preparation of presentations, employee education, and updates on changing laws that impact benefit plans
- Ensures SOX compliance and completes associated activities; participate in audits
- Ensure ERISA and Canadian Revenue Agency compliance and complete associated activities for benefit plans in the USA and Canada, (i.e. Discrimination testing, Form 5500, Summary Annual Reports, Annual Funding Notice, Summary of Material Modifications, Etc.)
- Conduct research and analysis of current trends in benefits as it relates to regulatory changes
- Conduct benefits administration/process improvement reviews
- Maintains compliance and accuracy of funding transactions, benefits enrollment and payroll premium deductions
- Maintain and update compliance library resources including process flows, cross checking and validating the benefits administration
- Assists with and supports union negotiations as needed
- Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, i.e. HRIS, Legal, Finance/Accounting departments.
- Support the Plant HR teams with benefit administration and establish positive relationships with benefit vendors
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience administering employee benefits and/or retirement plans, at least 3 of which have involved compliance of plans and programs
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
- Experience with ERISA and understanding of various US federal laws that impact health and welfare plans, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, Wellness Plans, and IRS
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience in a customer service oriented benefits department
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
- Ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, use the resources of other related practices to address client challenges
- Proficient with computers, specifically in the MS Office Suite projects and Adobe products
