Position Title: Director of Strategic Funding Partnerships

Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Classification: Full-Time | Exempt

Salary & Benefits: $90,000 to $110,000. Schedule: Generally Monday through Friday. Work days and hours may shift depending on scheduling needs; the typical schedule will be 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; flexibility is required. This position is classified as a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week.

Summary: The Director of Strategic Funding Partnerships will be responsible for developing and executing the company's overall public and private funding strategy. This encompasses leading the solicitation, stewardship and engagement strategy for foundation and corporate donors and key external partners. The Director of Strategic Funding Partnerships will serve as a visible advocate for the organization’s private grantseeking efforts and cultivate a diverse range of funding partners for the company. This position has two direct reports: the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Institutional Giving Coordinator; as well as supervisory responsibilities for a fundraising consulting team charged with grant writing and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct institutional partnership strategies at the company in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer.
  • Cultivate and steward funding partners throughout the course of the year and strategize ways to engage them.
  • Develop, propose and execute strategies for solicitation of new institutional partnerships and corporate sponsorships.
  • Create compelling proposals for submission to potential, existing or lapsed foundation and corporate funders and acknowledgment strategy.
  • Lead relationships with foundation and corporate donors and prospects, attending events and programs where such relationships can be established/grown and proactively steward corporate relationships.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Program Officer, develop and execute government funding strategy to ensure continued and expanded public support at the local, state and national level. Oversee the efforts of the organization’s external fundraising consultants responsible for grant writing and reporting for foundation and government proposals.
  • Support Executive Director, senior staff and Board members in their outreach to Institutional Giving partners, including research and giving reports, to maximize engagement and funding support.
  • Supervise and support the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Institutional Giving Coordinator.
  • Along with the Corporate Partnerships Manager, strategize the yearly calendar for corporate volunteer opportunities for maximum impact and relationship growth
  • Support and oversee promotion and delivery of corporate LGBTQ Workplace Inclusion Workshops.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Development team to strategize and provide resources to increase giving potential across all fundraising areas.
  • Lead meetings and serve as liaison for all foundation and corporate partners, serving as a representative of the company.
  • Cultivate and grow opportunities for corporate matching gifts and employee designated giving campaigns.
  • Work closely with the Communications team to develop and maintain key partnership materials as well as communications and social media assets to support partner recognition and visibility.
  • Oversee moves management tracking and revenue reporting for all institutional gifts in Salesforce.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent professional and educational experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of fundraising/sales experience in a fast-paced business or nonprofit environment (management experience preferred but not required).
  • Prior experience with foundation and corporate fundraising, sponsorship development and working knowledge of ERG engagement preferred.
  • Prior experience with government RFP’s and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising standards for gift recording and acknowledgment requirements as well as basic understanding of fund accounting principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and to set and stick to priorities.
  • Prior experience successfully managing multiple projects and familiarity with meeting fundraising goals and management of donor relations.
  • Computer proficiency with Word and Excel, including merges, and formulas.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational database management systems (Salesforce knowledge is a plus); moves management and project management platforms a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of personalities including staff, volunteers and members of the public.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • High level of initiative, dependability, flexibility and sense of humor.
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience working with LGBTQ+, TGNC, POC, and Immigrant populations, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender identity, transgender issues, immigration, and POC issues.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, undoing structural and institutional racism and bias and the spectrum of gender identity and bias. Consideration of the impacts and outcomes in decision-making processes and on underserved and historically oppressed communities.
  • A strong commitment to social justice and the mission of The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement:

The company is subject to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Commissioner’s Order requiring COVID-19 Vaccination for Staff in Residential and Congregate Settings from New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The Center is required to comply with this order because we have a number of contracts with New York City.

All current and new staff must either provide a one-time verification that they are fully vaccinated with either a single-dose of an FDA- or WHO-approved one-dose COVID-19 vaccine or the second dose of an FDA- or WHO-approved two-dose vaccine.
