Our client, a prestigious Securities Litigation law firm located in NYC, is looking for a Professional Development and DEI Manager to join their Human Resources team. The Professional Development and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager will serve as the Firm’s leader responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing a full range of professional development and diversity initiatives. As a member of the Human Resources team, you will closely collaborate with the Director of HR, the Firm’s Chief Operating Office, and the partners of the Firm who are focused on development and mentoring. 
Job Responsibilities:
Training & Professional Development
  • Develop and manage a firm-wide training program to incorporate general firm education, substantiative legal and core skills training, and career effectiveness for summer associates, attorneys, and staff with input from partners, department heads, COO, and HR. 
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend vendors and experts for training programs and collaborate with them to tailor programs to meet the Firm’s needs.
  • Lead Continuing Legal Education (CLE) accreditation, tracking, recordkeeping, and compliance for firm-sponsored training programs, in partnership with CEU.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Lead and help execute and implement the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion programs strategy in collaboration with the Diversity Committee, Executive Committee, COO and HR. 
  • Plan and execute diversity committee meetings, events, trainings and programs, create and maintain program materials and communications, and implement policies and strategies to retain and promote diverse attorneys and professional staff.

Coaching
  • Counsel and coach individual attorneys on career development issues and assist in resolving job-related developmental concerns. 
  • Communicate with partners on issues relating to attorney professional development and participate in partner meetings related to attorney performance.

Attorney Performance Evaluation
  • Manage the annual review process for attorneys and summer associates including performance evaluations and career development discussions.

Mentoring
  • Manage the Firm’s attorney mentorship program, which includes assigning mentors, training mentors and mentees, monitoring the quality of the relationships, program promotion and activities.

Other Responsibilities
  • Involvement in all aspects of the summer associate program, including but not limited to developing and executing training curriculum, social activities, mentorship opportunities and pairings, feedback, performance evaluation, and work assignments/rotations.
  • Serve as the firm’s ombudsperson and be available to all Firm personnel to receive confidential requests, feedback and questions. 
  • Play a key role in attorney orientation and onboarding life cycle and identify ways to enhance the firm’s overall orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Assist with planning and follow up related to Attorney lunches and Associate Development Partner committee meetings.
  • Maintain and promote educational materials in the firm’s E-Learning system and CLE library.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; JD is preferred
  • Coaching certification or credential is strongly preferred
  • Experience developing substantiative legal training programs is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in professional development, training and coaching, and managing performance evaluation programs is required
  • Experience in leading diversity initiatives is preferred
  • Proficient in the application of instructional design, curriculum design and adult learning principles
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver effective learning and development programs to lawyers and business services employees
  • Excellent oral communication skills including group presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of staff and management
  • Proven ability to develop good working relationships with and inspire confidence and respect from attorneys, staff, and vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and with cross-departmental teams
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Superior written communication skills and impeccable attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and PDF editor
  • Experience working in a hands-on administrative capacity with Learning Management software
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, a proactive approach, and the desire and readiness to build impactful initiatives from the ground up with little direction

SALARY: 175-200k depending on experience and qualifications
Benefits, bonus & Unlimited PTO
Hybrid - 3 days in office - must be in office on Tuesday and Wednesdays. 2 days WFH.
Must be vaccinated and boosted
Must be legally authorized to work in the US
